The winners were announced of the VET Excellence Awards 2018, an important event at this year's celebration of European Vocational Skills Week. Joanna Żebrowska won in the "Teacher and Trainer" category, the only representative of Poland nominated to this prestigious competition by the European Commission.

The VET Excellence Awards competition promotes best practices in vocational education and training across Europe. Its purpose is also to change the perception of vocational education and increase its attractiveness. The winners enjoy widespread recognition in the community of persons involved in vocational education and training.

The selection of winners took place via Internet voting. Three awards are given in the “VET Innovators” category. The first is given to vocational education providers, who demonstrate a high level of innovation in their work. The second one is given to the best teacher or instructor - and this award went to Joanna Żebrowska. The third is given to a research project, researcher or research team that has contributed to increasing the level of innovation in vocational education and training.

Joanna Żebrowska is the head of School Complex No. 7 in Tychy. She specialises in the vocational education of young people and adults. Thanks to her efforts, several hundred students have had the opportunity to attend professional internships in Germany, Italy, Portugal, as well as in Cyprus and Majorca.

Information about all the winners is available on the European Commission website.
