The European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) published the report Analysis of the Integration of Artificial Intelligence in VET Systems, examining the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in vocational education and training systems in Austria, Belgium, Slovenia, Spain, and the Netherlands.

The analysis is based on an extensive review of policy and academic literature, semi-structured interviews conducted at the macro, meso, and micro levels, and a synthesis of selected good practice initiatives, subsequently validated through stakeholder roundtables and similar consultation processes.

The findings show that successful AI adoption depends on a combination of enabling conditions, including teacher competence development, governance capacity, trusted digital infrastructures, and stable institutional support. The report highlights the importance of formal recognition of AI-related teacher competences, dedicated opportunities for educators to experiment with innovative practices, and the use of AI solutions that ensure data protection and algorithmic transparency.
