A regulation has been signed introducing new and amended core curricula for vocational education in occupations in sectoral vocational education. The changes cover 19 occupations in six sectors: precision mechanics, horticulture, healthcare, ICT, road transport and air transport.

The new core curricula concern, among others, occupations related to optoelectronics, horticulture and cybersecurity. They include the following occupations: optoelectronics fitter, optoelectronics technician, ophthalmic optics technician, floristry assistant, horticulture assistant, agro-horticulture worker, green areas gardener, agro-horticulture technician, landscape architecture and arboriculture technician, and cybersecurity technician. A new core curriculum will also be introduced for the occupation of florist, with education in this occupation transferred from post-secondary school to stage I sectoral vocational school.

Core curricula have also been updated for the following occupations: driver-mechanic, road transport technician, avionics technician, aircraft mechanic technician, airport operations technician, pharmacy technician, orthopaedic technician and medical sterilisation technician. The changes therefore cover the sectors of precision mechanics, horticulture, healthcare, ICT, road transport and air transport.

The new and amended core curricula will apply from the 2026/2027 school year in first-grade classes and, in the case of occupations taught in post-secondary schools, from the first semester. The core curriculum for the occupation of floral arrangement technician will enter into force later, on 1 September 2029.

Vocational qualification courses and vocational skills courses may be provided for qualifications distinguished in the new and amended occupations. Occupations in the healthcare sector are an exception. This solution will make it possible to acquire parts of qualifications also outside traditional school-based education.

At the same time, the following existing occupations have been removed from the core curricula: precision mechanic, optician-mechanic, optics technician, gardener, horticulture technician and landscape architecture technician. However, education in the occupation of precision mechanic may still begin in the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 school years.
