A new report by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development and the Jagiellonian University, entitled New or old rules of the game in the labour market: BKL 2025/26, has been published.
The ninth edition of the Human Capital Study shows how Polish employers and workers are preparing for technological, demographic and environmental change. Employers currently place the greatest importance on supporting their employees’ engagement, loyalty and quality of life, an area identified by 63% of respondents. Other important trends include the digitalisation of processes and data (39%), the achievement of climate and environmental objectives (31%) and adaptation to demographic change (28%).
Artificial intelligence is already used by 13% of employers, while a further 11% plan to introduce it. Companies expect technologies to fully replace work in 5% of jobs over the next three years and to take over some tasks in a further 22%.
Employers are also increasingly investing in workforce development. In 2024, 73% of companies implemented activities aimed at improving employees’ skills. However, relatively few approached this systematically: only 16% of employers had a dedicated training budget. The findings therefore point to the need to develop not only digital skills, but also social and self-management skills, as well as the capacity to learn.
