The Educational Research Institute (IBE PIB) has published a thematic report based on the results of the 2023 PIAAC study (coordinated by the OECD). The study looks at key skills of Polish adults aged 16–65 (reading comprehension, numeracy, and problem solving) and how these skills relate to the labour market.
The results show that higher skill levels are linked to employment and better pay, especially in the case of numeracy. Poland still has a low share of highly skilled jobs, and formal education continues to have a strong impact on earnings. The study also identifies areas where people’s skills do not match job requirements, which can limit career growth.
PIAAC helps us understand the links between skills and work situations. It is a valuable source of information for shaping education and labour market policies.
